US E-Scrap Laws 101: An Overview of the Key Aspects and Differences of the 25 State Laws
Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2011
Time: 9:30AM – 12:00PM

This will be an educational session on the state electronics recycling laws, with a focus on the important aspects for complying and participating as a manufacturer or recycler. If your company is facing requirements as a collector, recycler, or manufacturer, or you are looking to help any of these organizations to participate and comply with the laws, this workshop will give you a unique way to think about and understand the challenges and opportunities. Attendees will hear from experts in the field in order to offer knowledge from those assisting manufacturers and recyclers successfully comply and expand their business, as well as helpful tips on common mistakes seen by the regulators. Registration includes workshop participation and comprehensive CD of key reports, comparison documents, and other helpful information on the state laws.

Solutions for Harmonization of State E-Scrap Program Laws
Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2011
Time: 1PM – 4PM
The NCER-managed Electronics Recycling Coordination Clearinghouse (ERCC) administered by the Northeast Recycling Council will host a discussion looking at key areas for harmonization of state electronics recycling laws. At last year’s workshop, the ERCC led a prioritization exercise that identified the biggest challenges for stakeholders and program managers due to the differing state laws. From that workshop the ERCC and its members developed a number of tools and documents to address the highest priorities. At this workshop, the ERCC will focus on solutions to those challenges that will form a “Harmonization Work Plan.” The workshop will address areas where ERCC has already begun activities, such as a simplified manufacturer registration process, development of collector best practices and product definitions, as well as new topics identified by the group. The workshop is open to all, and ERCC members may attend at no cost. Become a Member before October and attend for free! Details on membership benefits and costs are at:
